8 Teens Charged with Beating Victoria “Tori” Lindsay
Update: Sorry to say, but it looks like YouTube has removed all instances of reporting on this event from the site, siting copyright and/or terms of agreement violations. Interesting…coming from a site that has billions of copyright violations uploaded and hosted everyday. Personally…I’m thinking it’s making them look bad, and they’ve simply decided to pull the plug on it.
The only thing that they’ve left up is video responses and the video below.
Posted under Video, WTF, youtubeFlickr goes live with Video
Making the announcement on their blog today, Flickr has opened the doors to video. And while I kinda bit&#ed about Flickr moving into the video realm, I think I might stand corrected. After giving a read to the blog, and the Video help section, I’m starting to rethink my previous statements. Check it out: Read the rest of this entry »

Ah the Germans. Such a fun group of people. They’ve given us Aspirin, the Zeppelin, and the Diesel engine. In the next wave of German ingenuity, they’ve now come up with the (almost) fully automated restaurant system.
If you’ve ever been to B&H photo/video in NYC, have a think about the product delivery method used in the store. Whizzing overhead on a system of pulleys and tracks, baskets of cameras, lenses, and memory cards come up from the basement storeroom, and are delivered to the cashier’s desk. Now imagine the process in reverse, products coming from the roof down on a series of rollercoaster-like tracks.
Posted under Food, GermanAt long last PROOF! Drinking Beer is Good for you!
A (semi) recent publication over at the Scientific American reveals that drinking a moderate amount of beer per day can improve recall of both visual and emotional stimuli. In other words…1-3 beers a day can actually improve your memory…and make you smarter! And really let’s face it, by this point I should be a genius! Yay beer!

Another one to file in the Just for Fun category, this one should get your weekend started with a smile. Ever seen a beatboxing basset hound? How about even adding your own bit of flava to the beat? Well, tele2 from Sweden gives us all that….and a turntable too!

Ah yes, here it is again folks, one of my most favorite days of the year…April Fools day. A time for practical jokes, and a general day of laughter. And while the internets continues to influence and become part of our everyday routine, April 1st has also become a day for the internet to kick back for a moment and enjoy a bit of tom foolery.

Sweeney Todd
I don’t remember exactly the first time I ever saw the Stephen Sondheim’s musical adaptation of ‘Sweeney Todd‘, but the effect was so profound that it quickly became my favorite musical of all time. I had the pleasure of viewing the 1982 broadcast version starting George Hearn and Angela Lansbury (it’s also saved to my wish list, so feel free). So with slight hesitation I viewed Tim Burton’s theatrical version last evening.

Ok, I normally don’t use the term LOL so much, but this one…it literally had me LOLing. This one was just too good to wait for the normal Friday Just for Fun category.

Crocs. Love ‘em or Hate ‘em? It seems to me that there are two varying camps on this topic. Those that would walk over a bed of hot coals only to be greeted with their familiar crocs at the end, OR those that want to limit them to doctors and nurses only and find crocs the most ridiculous footwear ever created. Based on the image above (yes, those are my feets) can you take a guess at which camp I fall into?

This one came across the news wire yesterday morning, and I’d like to add my own take to the already numerous amounts of words already out there. It’s been confirmed by a number of sources that photo sharing site Flickr is set to launch with a beta version of incorporating video sharing into the site. Now normally, especially when it comes to photos, I’m a bit of a purest. I think that one of the (not so) secrets to Flickr’s success is that it’s plain, it’s simple, it’s easy to navigate, and you get basically you’re asking for…photos. Nothing else, just photos. It’s kinda similar to my plea: Facebook - Keep it simple.

This Friday’s Just for Fun comes in the form of one of the best divorce letters I’ve ever seen. Granted my experience with divorce letters isn’t that vast (i.e. this is the first one I’ve ever read), but we’ve all broken up with someone in the past, and this letter…well, quite simply, takes the cake.

Fatfoogoo.com, funny name, interesting stuff!
A little bit of preface is necessary before I even start to talk about fatfoogoo. A few months back, while surfing through YouTube, I can across Remy’s Warcraft the rap video. This was the first time I’d seen video inside this game I’d vaguely heard of called World of Warcraft. I ended up finding the World of Warcraft (WoW) European site, and found a free 10 day trial offer. Why not I figured eh? Well…let’s just say that was the beginning of my fascination with this extremely complex game. On the surface it may seem like a simple child’s game, with funny little characters running to different places on a map and killing things, or collecting plants, or mining for gold, etc…

I’ll be the first one to admit that I’m not really into actively participating in many sports. I like to watch American football, but I was never really that good at playing it, and don’t really enjoy it so much. Baseball bores the crap outta me (at least to watch an entire game on television), and I don’t really get the chance to play it all that often. I do however like bowling, but alas, some don’t even consider that a ’sport’.
